Impact of modified transesophageal echocardiography on mortality and stroke after cardiac surgery; a large cohort study

SCA abstract

Conclusion:

Perioperative screening for aortic atherosclerosis with modified TEE was associated with a lower 30-day mortality after correction for confounding, as compared to patients operated without such screening. Modified TEE was used in high risk patients. Further study is needed to optimize the surgical perioperative strategy.
